This was the first Communication Control System
for the Hellenic Navy. Rockwell International – Defense Electronics
Division, developed the system. The firm undertook the project of installing,
configuring and site testing the system in Hellenic Navy’s command
premises.

This is the
second
generation Communication Control System for the Hellenic Navy. The firm designed
and developed the second version of the system literally
from scratch. The system is targeting the remote control of various telecom devices
such as radio receivers, receivers’ antennas, transmitters and
transmitters’ antennas. From operational point of view with the system a
number of telecom devices is connected to an m x n switch matrix. The
supervision, through the supervisor console, connects a receiver antenna,
a radio receiver, a transmitter antenna, a radio receiver, a voice
channel, and/or a telex to one operator that is responsible to communicate
using that set of equipment. The
operator can be a virtual one in case of computers that need to exchange
data. The supervisor can also remote monitor and control the telecom
devices using subsystems, like the “Broadcasting
Monitoring System” or the “RCULF
System”, referred above that are intergraded to eCCS.
One main
difference of this generation to the previous one is the expandability.
The first generation supervising computer application was developed on
OS/2 operating system while the second generation supervising computer
application is based on Unix platform with X-Windows and
Motif.
